Dal Tokki [Moon Rabbit]This project was an excercise in prop design coached by my professor, Susanne Brandhorst in 2019.
It's set in the south Korean city Seoul, which is suffering from strong light pollution. The story revolves around corruption, graffiti and the mythical moon rabbit (which gives this project its name). My goal was to explore the Korean aesthetics and create different objects that are typical and often seen in the area. I had 2 weeks production time and therefor I came up with a timeline and clear milestones, to make sure I'd be able to deliver the final designs. While I would have loved to explore new software for this project, I decided to stick with what I knew worked for me. All was created either using pen or photoshop with a little help from SketchUp. |

Shop
The shop gives a great insight on how I usually work. Starting from studies based on photos, trying to find the shapes and getting an overall feel for what is useful. Based on that I drew silhouettes.
I did further testing with the silhouettes and its actual use as well as choice of products which is not shown here. I produced a linework before starting the actual painting process.
The shop had to be designed in multiple angles, since it's not a single illustration but a concept for a 3D model. Therefore I decided to draw the final concept in a different angle than the linework.
